Sessions at our venue Cotgrave, Nottingham
Visit Us
Come and spend time with our horses at our venue. Whether it’s feeding, leading, grooming or simply being around them, every session is a chance to connect, relax and enjoy something different.
We focus on ability, not disability. Everyone is welcome.

What we offer
At Pet a Pony, we don’t follow a set path. We want you to enjoy your time with the ponies in the way that suits you best. Whether it’s feeding, leading, grooming, painting or simply spending time with them, each session is designed to create a positive and personal connection.
Our goal is to create an environment where everyone can experience the joy of being around horses, regardless of background or challenges.

One-to-one sessions
Peaceful, friendly and quiet. Our sessions are specifically designed for adults with special needs who may find group settings overwhelming. We focus on providing individual attention in a calm environment.

Family sessions
A calm outdoor experience for families, particularly those with children who have Special Educational Needs and find regular activities too overwhelming. Sessions are flexible and we’ll work around what suits you best.
Please note: We are not a riding school. If you’re looking for regular riding lessons, we recommend attending a licensed riding school. We cannot offer ridden sessions due to our insurance.
Not a riding school, but a learning opportunity
We offer something most riding schools don’t – the chance to learn about horse care in a hands-on, relaxed way.
Our visitors learn about feeding, grooming, picking out hooves, lunging, tacking up and leading. These are essential skills for anyone who wants to understand the basics of horsemanship and care.
We often have clients who ride at formal riding schools but come to us to learn more about the non-ridden side of horse keeping.

Making horses accessible to everyone
Our mission is to make horses accessible to all walks of life. We work hard to keep our prices as low as possible to ensure our services remain affordable.
We are a volunteer-run organisation and all fees go solely towards the upkeep and care of our horses. We have no paid staff.
✓ Equine Assisted Learning qualified ✓ Fully insured ✓ First Aid trained ✓ DBS cleared
Your first visit
Your first session starts with a half-hour meet and greet so everyone can settle in and feel comfortable around the horses.
After that, sessions can be adapted to suit your needs – just ask!
